Christ-Centered Family

Pray for a family culture formed around Christ, love, and discipleship.

Scripture

Deuteronomy 6:4-9

Hear, Israel: the LORD is our God. The LORD is one. You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might. These words, which I command you today, shall be on your heart; and you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them for a sign on your hand, and they shall be for frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the door posts of your house, and on your gates.

Joshua 24:14-15

“Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth. Put away the gods which your fathers served beyond the River, in Egypt; and serve the LORD. If it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose today whom you will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell; but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”

Colossians 3:12-21

Put on therefore, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do. Above all these things, walk in love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your heart to the Lord. Whatever you do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father, through him. Wives, be in subjection to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and don't be bitter against them. Children, obey your parents in all things, for this pleases the Lord. Fathers, don't provoke your children, so that they won't be discouraged.

Psalm 127:1, 3

Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain who build it… Behold, children are a heritage of the LORD. The fruit of the womb is his reward.

Ephesians 6:4

You fathers, don't provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Isaiah 54:13

All your children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of your children.

Psalm 34:11

Come, you children, listen to me. I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

Romans 12:18

If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men.
