Before Serving and/or Ministering

Pray for humble, Spirit-dependent, Christ-centered ministry.

Scripture

1 Peter 4:10-11

As each has received a gift, employ it in serving one another, as good managers of the grace of God in its various forms. If anyone speaks, let it be as it were the very words of God. If anyone serves, let it be as of the strength which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

John 15:4-5

Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can't bear fruit by itself, unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me. I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

2 Corinthians 4:5-7

For we don't preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake; seeing it is God who said, “Light will shine out of darkness,” who has shone in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in clay vessels, that the exceeding greatness of the power may be of God, and not from ourselves.

Pray these

  1. Father, help me minister from communion with Christ rather than from performance.
  2. Father, purify me from the desire to impress, control, or be praised.
  3. Father, fill me with compassion for the people I am called to serve.
  4. Supply strength, wisdom, discernment, and spiritual gifts according to Your will.
  5. Father, let Jesus be seen, people be edified, and You alone receive the glory.
