Praising in the Midst of the Storm

Pray for worship that remains anchored in God during hardship.

Scripture

Habakkuk 3:17-19

For though the fig tree doesn't flourish, nor fruit be in the vines; the labor of the olive fails, the fields yield no food; the flocks are cut off from the fold, and there is no herd in the stalls: yet I will rejoice in the LORD. I will be joyful in the God of my salvation! The LORD, the Lord, is my strength. He makes my feet like deer's feet, and enables me to go in high places. For the music director, on my stringed instruments.

Acts 16:22-26

The multitude rose up together against them, and the magistrates tore their clothes from them, and commanded them to be beaten with rods. When they had laid many stripes on them, they threw them into prison, charging the jailer to keep them safely, who, having received such a command, threw them into the inner prison, and secured their feet in the stocks. But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone's bonds were loosened.

Psalm 46:1-11

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we won't be afraid, though the earth changes, though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas; though its waters roar and are troubled, though the mountains tremble with their swelling. Selah. There is a river, the streams of which make the city of God glad, the holy place of the tents of the Most High. God is within her. She shall not be moved. God will help her at dawn. The nations raged. The kingdoms were moved. He lifted his voice, and the earth melted. The LORD of Armies is with us. The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah. Come, see the LORD's works, what desolations he has made in the earth. He makes wars cease to the end of the earth. He breaks the bow, and shatters the spear. He burns the chariots in the fire. “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth.” The LORD of Armies is with us. The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

Psalm 100:4-5

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, and bless his name. For the LORD is good. His loving kindness endures forever, his faithfulness to all generations.

Psalm 27:4

One thing I have asked of the LORD, that I will seek after, that I may dwell in the LORD's house all the days of my life, to see the LORD's beauty, and to inquire in his temple.

Psalm 16:11

You will show me the path of life. In your presence is fullness of joy. In your right hand there are pleasures forever more.

Psalm 34:1-3

I will bless the LORD at all times. His praise will always be in my mouth. My soul shall boast in the LORD. The humble shall hear of it, and be glad. Oh magnify the LORD with me. Let us exalt his name together.

Psalm 103:2

Praise the LORD, my soul, and don't forget all his benefits.

Pray these

  1. Put a song of truth in my mouth even while I lament honestly.
  2. Father, help me praise You for who You are, not only for what has changed.
  3. Father, strengthen my awareness of Your presence in unstable circumstances.
  4. Use worship to reorient my heart from panic to trust.
  5. Father, let praise become faithful witness, while I still pursue wise help and action.
