Savings & Retirement

Pray for wise preparation for the future without trusting money as savior.

Scripture

Proverbs 6:6-11

Go to the ant, you sluggard. Consider her ways, and be wise; which having no chief, overseer, or ruler, provides her bread in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest. How long will you sleep, sluggard? When will you arise out of your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: so your poverty will come as a robber, and your scarcity as an armed man.

Proverbs 21:5, 20

The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit; and everyone who is hasty surely rushes to poverty. There is precious treasure and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man swallows it up.

1 Timothy 6:17-19

Charge those who are rich in this present world that they not be haughty, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on the living God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy; that they do good, that they be rich in good works, that they be ready to distribute, willing to share; laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold of eternal life.

Pray these

  1. Father, give me wisdom to save consistently and plan realistically for later years.
  2. Father, help me balance future preparation with present generosity and necessary care.
  3. Father, deliver me from procrastination, panic, greed, and false security.
  4. Father, guide investments, insurance, beneficiaries, estate planning, and professional counsel.
  5. Father, keep my ultimate hope in You, not in an account balance.
